Our Place’s Always Pan didn’t take long to conquer the internet. The innovative skillet with the ability to replace eight different kitchen tools has not only earned thousands of perfect ratings and a 30,000-person waitlist, but also Instagram fame thanks to its gorgeous array of colors (specifically its millennial pink Spice). The bold vermillion pan is actually a comeback kid. First launched in 2020 as part of the brand’s Lunar New Year Collection, Our Place designed the pan in collaboration with Chinese-Americans and selected red for its reputation of good luck. After a year, we can finally snag a red Always Pan again, this time as pepper-inspired Heat.
“Last year, when we launched our Lunar New Year collection in partnership with Chinese-American artists and makers, we sold out on preorder in one week,” Our Place founder Shiza Shahid wrote to Food & Wine. “The Heat Always Pan is distinct from that collection, but inspired by the 10,000 Abilities Always Pan from last year’s Traditionware. We got so many requests to bring back this hue and combination that we couldn’t say no!”
The Always Pan is renowned for its incredible versatility. It’s 10 inches wide and 2.75 inches deep and includes a beechwood spatula and stainless steel steamer basket, so you can fearlessly fry, sauté, steam, boil, and braise in one vessel. What’s more, its ceramic-coated interior is easy to clean and provides the convenience of a nonstick surface without harmful chemicals like PFAs, lead, cadmium, toxic metals, and nanoparticles.
After testing out the pan last year, Food & Wine associate editor Oset Babür confirmed it was worth the hype. “In my own kitchen, the pan earns its keep by easily transforming from stir-fry wok to dumpling steamer to steak skillet. I use it to make pancakes in the morning and simmer pasta sauce for dinner; it’s just as good for frying eggs as it is for sautéing greens.”
