
Andrew Black
Founder, Managing Partner
Andrew Black is the Founder and Managing Partner of BrandProject, based in Toronto. He partners with founders to build world-class consumer brands, focusing on strategy, leadership, team development, finance, and fundraising.
Since founding BrandProject in 2013, Andrew has worked closely with numerous portfolio companies, including Freshly, Daily Harvest, Clutch, Porta, Juno, Peachy, Everself, and Hermetic.AI, serving on their boards over time.
Andrew brings decades of experience as an entrepreneur, operator, and investor. He co-founded Virgin Mobile Canada with Richard Branson in 2004, growing it to more than one million customers and over $500 million in revenue prior to its acquisition by Bell Canada in 2009. He previously held leadership roles as President of LEGO Americas, GM of Nike USA Equipment, and earlier at Dr Pepper 7UP and Colgate-Palmolive.
He holds a BA in Economics from Queen’s University and has been involved with organizations such as Virgin Unite and Young Presidents’ Organization. Andrew is a deeply engaged consumer who enjoys discovering new brands — whether exploring grocery aisles, tracking emerging Gen Z trends with his four daughters, or anticipating what’s next. Outside of work, he enjoys sailing, attending Toronto Blue Jays games, and traveling with his family.
