Mira Labs is a Los Angeles-based augmented reality company that designs and builds lightweight AR headsets and the software platforms to power them. Starting with a focus on consumer AR, Mira pivoted to industrial and enterprise applications, creating heads-up display technology used in manufacturing, defense, and live experiences. Their hardware powered the AR lenses in the Mario Kart ride at Universal Studios’ Nintendo World, and the company held contracts with both the US Air Force and Navy.

The company was founded in 2016 by Ben Taft, who started Mira in a dorm room with the conviction that augmented reality could be made lightweight, accessible, and genuinely useful.

Mira raised $17 million before being acquired by Apple in 2023, one day after Apple unveiled the Vision Pro.

BrandProject invested alongside Sequoia in Mira’s Seed round in 2018. Mira Labs was acquired by Apple in 2023.
